Follow These Cold Weather Tips for a Top-Performing Mercedes Benz

Harsh winter conditions can wreak havoc on your Mercedes Benz. Not only can cold temperatures affect things such as tire pressure and battery levels, but ice, snow, and salt can all cause unintentional damage. 1. Check Vehicle Battery

A poorly working battery can mean all sorts of problems for your Mercedes Benz. If the battery is older than five years, have a trusted mechanic check its condition along with how well it can hold a charge. 

2. Inspect Coolant System

Many components of the coolant system are made of plastic. This makes them especially susceptible to damage during cold temperatures. These parts need to be checked for cracks or leaks, and need to be replaced if found to be in disrepair. 

3. Maintain Those Tires

Tires should be checked for cracks, leaks, or punctures of any kind. Pressure in the tires can vary along with the outdoor temperatures. For a thorough inspection of the tires, bring your vehicle into our experienced Mercedes repair shop. 

4. Check All Fluids

Regardless of the weather, it’s always a good idea to check and maintain the fluid levels of your vehicle, including windshield washer fluid, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, brake fluid, radiator fluid, and the oil. While it’s simple enough to top these off as needed, allowing these fluids to run out without refilling them can cause major damage.

5. Examine Belts and Hoses

If your vehicle is experiencing any fluid leaks, it’s a good idea to follow up and check all belts and hoses. The parts of your vehicle all work together. If one part of that system is not working at top efficiency, it can negatively affect the entire vehicle’s performance.
